The AlamoBowl! Jon, Ali, Jackson and I were able to attend the AlamoBowl in San Antonio on December 29th. Missori played Nothwestern and the game went into overtime. As Texas and Nebraska fans we were pulling for our Big 12 North co-champions, Missouri. They won 30-23, but more importantly...we had a blast. David

This month of December for Debra is "the most wonderful time of the year". Since before Thanksgiving we have had the Tree up and after all the years of collecting ornaments and related hanging objects, every branch is filled. The tree then is symbolic for all the extended reach and sprouts that have become our extended joy. Assuredly everyone was remembered by Deb with gifts, thought fullness, prayers and visits. I think this picture captures some of the vitality, surrounded by presents, that Deb radiates on Christmas morning. And she writes on a picture laden attachment e-mail Friday: "only 364 more days... "

This is a picture of the Rio Grande river gorge just outside of Taos, New Mexico. The remarkable thing is the surrounding land is table top flat and there is nothing to see until you are right over the eroded canyon drop. The bridge span over this area trembles as you are on the walk and trucks fly by. I have driven it twice and flown over at low altitude and the time carved geology is jaw dropping. David

Makenzie at Thanksgiving

Makenzie always has fun at the Holidays. She is visiting just after the tree went up at Thanksgiving. A Christmas tree up so early? Deb doesn't think so. The logic, the longer the Holiday can stretch, the better . Makenzie agrees.

Jackson at six months

Jackson David visited last night an the occasion of his six month old birthdate. He is fun and alert. I took a number of pics in front of the Christmas tree and each seemed to capture a different aspect of his personality.

Perfect Day

Jon and I ventured out from Colorado Springs to a vast park called eleven mile reservoir. It was up in an extreme elevation in the Rockies and the sky and water were crystalline. We fished for trout and landed several big fish ahead of a spring spawn. The rainbow trout in this short video was a "catch and release" in an extraordinary setting. As the video shows, the water was cool and clear and the trout healthy. This was truly a once in a lifetime outing and thankful it was captured in this short video. David

Porch Guest

This picture taken on our front porch is to be filed under "Texas Critters". He didn't flinch as I poked my camera through some vines as I'm sure his survival skills were pitching freeze over flight. Stepping out the door is an adventure as we had deer and an early morning fox in the yard. I didn't break my rule of; no pics before coffee. Hopefully we have less bugs in offering a lizard motel. Michigan in early September

While the property in Grayling Michigan, known as "Eagles Nest", remains relatively unchanged, the restoration of the beauty of the cabin shines ahead of natural aging process. In an era where woods are imported from Indonesia and South America and "river stones"are cast from concrete, the real home modeled of pine logs and stones water and sand polished in the Great lakes formative process is extraordinary. Patriarchal patience and projects, married with an artistic eye and placement define home craftsmanship. A week in early September is truly a fresh breeze of restorative living. A contrast to the Texas relentless sun.

Jackson Time

Tonight Jon, Ali and I had dinner at a restaurant, Saltgrass. The food wasn't nearly as fun as Jackson. If he was a dessert he would have been in the menu under "very sweet". He sleep on and off but was never fussy. A joy to be around. Ali asked if I had any parenting wisdom. I made some reflection, but was thinking...if you want to be great parents, have a cool kido like Jackson, you can't go too far wrong. (grandpa)

Debra In DC

In the fall of 2005 I had an opportunity to participate in a national conversation on the elements of a benefit package and deployment of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) design that would include behavioral health information. Questions like who would be the owner on the information, confidentiality protections, and interoperability. Possibly boring in a non discript DC hotel, but Debra came along and made after hours fun. She found a funky hotel for lodging some blocks from DuPont circle and near a Whole Foods for healthy eats. The stay was at the Hotel Helix http://www.hotelhelix.com/ and that in itself was a trip. The pictures are from the National Gallery of Art and we had a blast at the showings. The picture of the prodigal son was one that touched us at that particular time. Of course, Mary Cassatt and the impressionists picked up the visit. Below are a few pics of Debra at the museum, frame able. David

Abigail comes for a visit

Abigail showed up for a long awaited Saturday visit at "Mami's and Popie's". Joanna was looking over the camera and tried a few shots before she left for a night out. This pic captures the spunky enthusiasism Ab brings into an adventure. She had been sick the week before with a flu bug and here she is very well...thank you! We had a blast with projects and eating out at "Jasons Deli", and an evening of TV and projects. She left for home at midnight, tired, but still full of fun.

Jackson David Evans

Jackson is starring here in his second video at one month old. He is alert, fun, interesting, a joy, cute, inquisitive, strong....well you get the idea, the apple of this grandparents eye.

In 2008 Gateway Church, along with World Vision, Hosted "The Aids Experience" in which an African village was simulated with an array of village structures imported to make the tour realistic. Some thousands of guests took the tour and related literature on an aids ravaged African continent. Debra represents the Firelight Foundation booth with free reports, call to action, and dialog.

Santa Fe Market

Beautiful afternoon in Santa Fe at the Farmers Market. Kerrey and Deb explore the dyed wools and pick up some fresh produce. Some of the larger organic growers were not there due to being somewhat late in the growing season. Hot early afternoon, note hand made fan.
