Ice Jewell

On Tuesday night the temperature in Austin fell to 32 degrees and a light rain fell thru the night. At 8:00 in the morning the sun came up and the ice coatings of branches and wires started to melt. I took the camera out and spotted a small jewell of ice dangling on a spider thread that formed in the frigid air. Within a few minutes it was gone, but I was happy to catch evidence of a rare Austin event...cold.

Santa Fe lightshow

Posted by PicasaSee notes below for picture orientation

Santa Fe sky from above and below

This picture is of the Santa Fe airport taken from Dave Ks' plane headed Sw just about to cross over 25, the highway that connects all up through the east slope of the Colorado Rockies. Somewhat overcast, sun streams down between the various cloud cover. The picture above captures this ceiling and patchwork creating a shafting light show. You can see how quickly the landscape becomes barren and other than nearby populated enclaves there is virtually no development west. I've flown this area up to Taos and Monument Valley and west to Phoenix. The beauty has grown on me from interesting to magnificent.

Photo Fun at Zilker Park

Makenzie Grace wanted to have a photo field trip to Zilker Park, with its' rose gardens, koi ponds and Japanese bonsai effects. Of course it was for the pure art, although I did hear something about Makenzie proving up she was ready for her first camera. She borrowed my Nikon D-80 and seemed to take right to it. These are some of her 125 pics from the trip. Note the brief video posted at the end of the pic string.

Big view,Big Sur

In November, Deb and I had a several day stay at Post Ranch In Big Sur California. The weather was great and this area of the country is a rare gem. This picture is Deb at the edge of the infinity pool overlooking the Pacific ocean. We are about 700 feet above sea level in which the steep incline rises to the pool. The umbrellas are at tables on the deck for outdoor dining at Post Ranch Inn. The extraordinary outlook views make this a one of a kind culinary experience. The picture is taken standing poolside next to Debs' swim. The rainbow popped out just to crown this time.

An often repeated thought is that of the kids really making the Holidays with their enthusiasm, expectations and wide eyed wonder of the moment. Through the past two weeks our grand kids, Abigail, Makenzie and Jackson David have lite up our place, bringing a fresh truth to the adage. Ab always enjoys holding Jackson, even when he is not so sure.
